Sailings cancelled for Golden Week

From Oct. 1 to 7, China and Hong Kong will observe Golden Week. During this national holiday, companies and factories are closed, and the population is largely on holiday, causing exports to come to a virtual standstill.

Golden Week begins on National Day, popularly known as Guo Qing Jie. This holiday, which celebrates the founding of the People's Republic of China, always takes place on Oct. 1 and is lavishly celebrated with parades and processions.

Just before Golden Week, the low season for container shipping begins. Several sailings to Europe are cancelled, a practice known as blank sailing. In late October and early November, this in turn affects the number of sailings from Europe to the Far East.

Shipping capacity for both import and export shipments will be limited in the coming period. We therefore advise you to register shipments with us as soon as possible so we can ship them under the best conditions and at the most favorable rates. For requests or more information, please send us a message or contact your usual Jordex representative.
