Jordex global celebrates 5-year anniversary
5 ½ years ago, Jordex Shipping and Forwarding was bringing decades of experience from the Netherlands to the Middle East by opening the doors of Jordex Global in Abu Dhabi. Now we celebrate a milestone; the first lustrum of Jordex Global!
August 2020 during the lockdown we quietly passed our 5 year anniversary. Now normal life slowly picks up we like to look back at the 5 years of Jordex Global. Today we interviewed Managing Director Dennis Noordijk!
Congratulations! Jordex Global is celebrating its fifth anniversary. How would you describe the past five years in Abu Dhabi?
5 years already, time flies when you have fun.. Opening an office in an environment which you are not familiar with is an challenge. You will have to deal with many different nationalities and the multicultural standards they have. It needs adaption to deal with these standards especially if you want to hang on the western European standards you want to set in the company. I think we are still carrying out our Western European standards which will differentiate us from many competitors here in the region.
Can you tell us more about the team that Jordex Global grew to where you are today?
We started with two people in a very small office which was just big enough to fit to desks and chairs in it. At this stage we moved already 4 times to a larger office space and are quite happily set. 1 year ago we opened an office in Dubai based in JLT just across Dubai Marina. JLT is full of international companies and near by to the industrial zones like Jebel Ali Free zone, DIP, DIC. Our team is grown to 8 people in meantime and a nice split of cultural diversities as well.
What are the logistical challenges during the corona crisis?
In the middle east we faced serious challenges at first. In the Arab culture its important to meet face to face. You have to drink tea or coffee for at least 3 to 4 times before you start working on the business aspect of the relation. With the lockdowns and company policies this was affected big time. Nowadays teams, zoom meetings are daily practice but I would say sourcing new business is a bigger challenge than in Europe.
What are the future plans for Jordex Global?
The advantage of the UAE is that it is geographically well located, between Europa Asia and direct access to Subcontinent and African markets. We see that more and more multinationals and SME’s setting up their offices, warehouses to have shorter delivery times and finetuning their logistical movements. With this said we want to focus on a stable business set up where we can help our customers to achieve the best logistics solutions. Jordex Global is not only focusing on the UAE trade, basically in every GCC country we have our own dedicated partners which can help us out with all our logistical needs. In the longer run it will be most obvious that we will expand with more own offices through the Middle East.
